Fair Play Pledge

NWT Cross Country Run in Fort Providence, we remember that sport is about more than finishing times, medals, or standings. It is about community, respect, encouragement, and how we lift each other up.

That is why we begin each event with our Fair Play Pledge, inspired by Elder Paul’s reminder that how we treat each other is what people will remember long after the competition is over.

Hearing our youth read the pledge in front of their peers sets the tone for the event. It reminds us that effort, kindness, and dignity matter on and of#weareallteamnt

“On behalf of all athletes, coaches, and supporters, we pledge to compete fairly, give our best, and show respect. We will support each other, cheer with kindness, and treat fellow athletes, officials, volunteers, and coaches with dignity. We know that how we act is just as important as how we perform. Together, let us make this event safe, fun, and full of good sportsmanship. Let the races begin, with respect, pride, and heart.”

Thank you to the youth who lead by example, the coaches who model respect, and the families, officials, and volunteers who support them. We look forward to coming together in Fort Providence and building strong communities through sport.

Congratulations to our Fair Play Pin winners from École William MacDonald School at the 2026 NWT Cross Country Run in Fort Providence!!!

After the races were finished, these four students saw that help was needed and stepped forward without being asked. They helped clean up the kitchen and clean the floor, showing kindness, responsibility, and respect for the volunteers and community members who made the event possible.
